Fell House, Sedbergh

Cumbria, England

Renovated from top to toe, this converted Victorian grain warehouse keeps its wonderful stone fireplaces and great exposed beams. Walk straight into a big stylish sitting room with a flagstone floor, low beams and coal-effect gas fire. Four sofas, TV, DVD and a selection of films make it perfect for relaxing, it is warmly and charmingly furnished and there are thoughtful extra touches – fresh flowers, a bottle of wine. An iron spiral staircase leads you up to the kitchen/dining area above, where high-beamed ceilings and big skylights look down on parquet floors and a table that seats up to 16; the friendly kitchen is at one end. One bedroom - with a futon-style bed and a double - is tucked into a curtained-off area around the corner from the sitting room, and there are a couple of twin/double rooms too, one en suite: more exposed beams, more skylights. The master bedroom is light and bright, with a parquet floor, a metal-framed bed on a raised area, a good-sized bathroom. Every bathroom sparkles: white tiles, chrome fittings, slate-like floors, stacks of towels. There’s no garden, but you can walk The Howgill Fells from the door - this would be great for a group of walkers. Historic Sedbergh has good shops, pubs and restaurants. Adjoining flat for up to six also available.
