Mynford Cottage, Nr Polzeath
Cornwall, England
Enter to sweeping wooden floors and freshly painted white walls; look up and you’ll spot the keel of an old rowing boat perched on the beams. Fresh as a daisy, everything sparkles: turquoise window frames, red and white striped blinds, deep blue sofas, an oak table with six high-backed chairs, a bowl of fruit. The look is coastal chic and there’s a wonderful feeling of space. The open-plan living area stretches to the kitchen, equally crisp with white units, wooden surfaces, pretty blue tiles and all mod cons; carry on and you come to a bathroom with double shower and locally made soaps, and an all-white bedroom - also on the ground floor - with views to Friesian-flecked fields. Steep steps lead to a mezzanine landing (unsuitable for toddlers, but super for little pirates - it makes a perfect crow’s nest), and a twin with velux windows for spying from and balustrades to peep through. Outside are a south-facing patio with views to fields, a barbecue and a table and chairs. Amanda and her family live next door, love this part of Cornwall, and are happy to point you in all the right directions.
