Garden Cottage, The Grove House, Ledbury
Herefordshire, England
Your heart will lift when you open the door to Garden Cottage - it glows in its brand-new, contemporary makeover. The living room is now an inviting mellow yellow, the sun angling in through wide windows; the well-equipped kitchen is simple and white. The heavy four-poster bed was made from salvaged oak - it’s an impressive beast - and the bathrooms gleam. The garden is pretty with mature trees and pond. Lake Cottage, next door, is an unusual little building, simple, quirkily charming, with a steep, narrow stair. The blue and white toile de Jouy walls give the little bedroom a lovely, traditional feel, while the view across the pond to lush Herefordshire beyond is what lazing in bed with the papers was surely made for. In both cottages, bathrooms are stocked with bathrobes, wonderful soaps and mounds of towels. The estate is yours to discover. Summer House (sleeps 2) is also available. Bed and breakfast available at Grove House.
