The Old Byre, Morston
Hall Farm, Norfolk, England
Five minutes to sandy beaches, a sun-trap garden, guaranteed privacy and bags of space. It’s the simple pleasures of life that make this brick and flint, former stable block, set on a large coastal farm, ideal for family fun. (As everything is on one level, it’s also ideal for less agile guests.) There’s nothing pretentious, fussy or precious. Rooms are generous, comfortable and well-thought out from the big family kitchen with its gingham cloth table to the light, uncluttered living room with its wooden floors and bright, squashy sofas. The two bedrooms are delightfully simple and zing with freshness – soft colours, plump duvets, pretty bedside tables, peaceful views. The bathroom, with its country-style tongue and groove panelling, has a walk-in shower as well as a bath. Fresh flowers and luxury bathroom goodies give just the right welcoming touch. Snooze, play with the kids or eat alfresco – barbecue provided – in the walled, south-facing, courtyard garden. Potter on the beach, sail, fish, look for seals... or just relax under those big Norfolk skies.
