Stone Cottage, Ludlow
Shropshire, England
Weathered ‘Stone Cottage’ has overlooked the hustle and hum of lovely old Ludlow for 250 years. And yet, tucked round the corner from the Broad Gate archway, it's quiet and comfortable: perfect for a town stay for a couple or a small family. The living area downstairs – full of comfy chintz furniture clustered round a wood-burning stove – will refresh you at the end of a busy day. The kitchen is well-equipped, with china, glass and cutlery for six, while the bathroom is modern with top-notch smellies and towels. The large double and twin bedrooms upstairs are furnished with particular care – luxurious fabrics and down pillows on the beds and pretty pictures all round, with fresh flowers in every room. Stretch yourself out on the sun trap roof terrace for an afternoon, then dine in the ample conservatory overlooking a pebbled courtyard (handy for the car). In central Ludlow you won't lack shops, pubs and, of course, restaurants; Ann's welcome pack will help you find your way. If you yearn for country air, try The Coach House - equally immaculate and just two miles outside town.
