Ynys Pandy, Garndolbenmaen

Gwynedd, Wales

It’s beautifully secluded, here in the hills looking into the Snowdonia range. No through traffic – just tractors, horses, the odd stray sheep – and you can walk down to the river with its perfect Pooh Sticks bridge. Tomos’s parents used to live in the long low Welsh farmhouse, then added to it over the years; now he and Brenda – kind to the environment, kind to their guests - live in one part and the rest is for you. Cosily furnished, spotlessly clean, this cottage bolthole is ideal for families seeking a home from home – with views. And you arrive to a glowing log burner and freshly baked scones. In the sitting room are games, books and cosy touches, in the conservatory, comfy chairs and sunshine, in the kitchen, ivory-painted wooden units, blue and white crockery and a lovely old pine cupboard, in the scullery, a big butler’s sink and room for wet wellies. The bathroom – with new white bath, generous shower, fluffy towels, eco-friendly soaps and romantic candles - is downstairs while the bedrooms are up, colourful, comfy and furnished (mostly) with new pine. Children will love the bunks, the grassy garden with its climbing frame and swings, and the dogs that may befriend yours. They’ll also love the beaches and castles – and Portmerion, a fifteen-minute drive. The visitors’ book is full of praise.
