Lyndale Gate Lodge, Lyndale House, Edinbane, Isle of Skye, Isle of Skye, Scotland
The sky envelops you, sea, lochs and views of distant isles surround you, and a little burn runs in front of your cottage. The 'inkpot-style' gate lodge to the estate snuggles into a heavily wooded dip in the landscape and sits inside its own tiny walled garden. Inside, all is immensely comfortable and gently stylish. The living room is open plan, shared with the dining area; there's a wood-burning stove (logs provided) and all mod cons, including dishwasher. A fresh, pretty, uncluttered little double bedroom is downstairs and a twin upstairs, with beds set end to end; the bathroom is blue-panelled, white-walled, sparkling. Feel at one with nature: wander down the wooded driveway to the shore, keeping an eye out for wild flowers and birds along the way; spot seals, or drop your line in and await results. Or just enjoy the sunsets. The walking and climbing are, of course, exceptional, and you can explore Skye on a pony. With luck, you'll catch a ceilidh in Edinbane.
Laundry Cottage & The Stables (both sleep 2) are also available.
