Perched jauntily on the coastal path, this classy villa is minutes from sandy Porthminster Beach; and just round the corner is St Ives itself, a grown-up sort of seaside resort – from buckets and spades to Barbara Hepworth and glowingly reviewed restaurants. As its name implies, this holiday haven is a bright and breezy place, washed in calm, neutral tones and with big windows drawing in that famous St Ives light. The kitchen gives you your first taste of the uncluttered, modern style. Every morning, peep through the porthole to check on the weather and settle at the chunky wooden table for a lazy brunch. In the lounge, chocolate leather sofas ease you into holiday mode and if the sun fails to show there are games and DVDs enough for everyone. When the sea seems too far, then take to the warmer waters of the indoor swimming pool beside the owner's house. Smarten up in your slick limestoned bathroom and, drowsy from sea air, slip into a big wooden bed and gaze up at the stars. A brilliant family retreat with so much on the doorstep that the car may be left looking at the view!
