Pennard Hill Farm Cottages, East Pennard, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England
You are 600 feet up on a ridge, with superb views over the Somerset Levels and to Glastonbury Tor. All around are acres and acres of perfect farmland, Exmoor horn sheep and organic pasture. Here are three properties: The Lamb, charming and comfortable – flagstone floors, soft sofas, an open fire – with a more contemporary feel upstairs. The Golden Fleece, an airy, vast place with a huge kitchen and double Aga, a glass dining table in a window, black leather sofa, tiled floors and everything you could possibly want, from dishwasher on. The Haybarn, a converted Victorian barn – all warm brick walls and stripped floors – it touches every comfort button: a large bedroom under the eaves flooded with light, kilims on the polished floor, satin covers and fine linens on the bed – perfect for a couple. And just a step away: a Victorian barn with a vast, beautiful, warm and hazy room that holds – wait for it – a heated pool. Little extras like White Company linen, locally made goats' milk soaps, beauty treatments and massages (on request), and supper dishes delivered to your kitchen make the difference, and Kate will show little ones around the farm if they wish. Upbeat, quirky and immaculate: a good spot from which to stride out and explore Somerset.
Business groups welcome as well.
