Attention has been lavished on this large, luxurious, 1960s house designed in 'California meets Cornwall' style. Tucked off the coastal road down narrow lanes, Chyvarton sits in seven peaceful acres with Upton cliffs and great sea views 400 yards away. Inside is immaculate, tidy and carefully planned, and you will feel truly spoiled – what with sweeping wooden floors, modern prints and pictures on the walls, subtle lighting and masses of space. Good-sized bedrooms are full of comfort and rural views, smart pine beds have good linen and feather pillows, bathrooms are white and contemporary, one comes with a roll top bath and retro feel. The welcoming owners are proud of their holiday homes (see too Crooklets House and Crooklets View), and rightly so; they can also arrange for a local chef to cater for you. Not that you won't want to spend time in the kitchen – it's gorgeous, spacious and fits a massive granite-topped table. The sitting room opens to a veranda and oozes white sofas and uninterrupted views that stretch from big windows across paddock to fields and Bude, a 12-minute walk away. Children will love the games room with billiards and plasma TV – and the Wendy house in the garden.
