Godshill Park Annexe, Godshill, Isle of Wight, England
The Annexe adjoins the owners' grand country house, and is all on one floor. Step straight into an open-plan sitting room; a pine table sits in a huge bay window overlooking the stable block, and the light floods in. Fresh flowers, deep carpets and cream and beige striped sofas invite you to settle; a flat-screen TV, board games, books and magazines tempt you to stay. The galley kitchen is a gem, with its cream units, wooden worktops, pretty blue and white tiles and a dresser filled with china. The bedroom has a white wrought-iron king-sized bed, which can be separated to make twins, and a single; it's decorated in pale blue, with a pretty floral border and matching linen. The bathroom is modern and white, and has a deep cast-iron bath, a powerful shower above, and Egyptian cotton towels. Outside you have your own stone terrace and seating area secluded behind tall trees, and a small part of the shared lawns. Cheerful Nora makes you feel welcome with a locally-sourced breakfast hamper. The Isle of Wight's famous beaches are a 10-minute drive; there are footpaths and cycle paths from the door and the thatched village of Godshill - half a mile down the road - is as pretty as can be.
